O.K., I'll Post, too!

Lois & Bob went to Mauch Chunk (now called Jim Thorpe, that's another story!) in Oct via a scenic train trip from Port Clinton. We went further on up the Lehigh River Gorge too. That's Lois next to a quaint Hotel in this small 1800's town trying to become a tourist destination. Amit & Jill got us the tickets for the trip as an anniversary gift.

I am sorry for my previous offensive statements. I removed it and hopefully this will remedy the situation. Please except my sincere apologies.

The weather is delightful here on the prairie, I am still wearing sandals and tee shirts although once in a while we turn the heat on at night and I wear a lite coat when I drive Laura to school. Their is an Oak tree behind our house that is showing some red color and I have noticed geese and small birds flocking together. I don't know where they will fly, maybe Mexico. Haha We drove by an ice rink and there was a pile of snow that had been scraped off the rink and piled outside so we stopped for a while to look at it and Jon asked Laura if she wanted to go play in it but she said no that was all right maybe next time. We had a little nostalgia there. Our neighbor told us they had to chuckle at some of the tools they noticed being unpacked....snow shovel, digging iron, crow bars. She wanted to know what to expect since it doesn't snow here and we don't need many tools to care for our postage stamp yard but we all had a good laugh and it helped us to bond a little with a native Texan (he looks like a football player, he's over 6' and very muscular). But if you're too cold come on down, and we will show you the town. I am really enjoying being able to see the sky after 6 years of living in the Piedmont. I didn't realize how much I missed the sun rise and set. Well I'm serving turkey and I might get a little creative with the trimmings if I have the energy. I am having a good laugh here I'm not too serious about all these dilemas. Well if you're minding the cold you are welcome here. I'm going to meet Terrel Owens (a receiver for the Dallas Cowboys) in a couple of days so I'm excited about that. The Cowboys are on a roll!

Starting to Get Nippy

The frost is on the pumpkin...and my windshield, and the deck, and the birdbath and goodbye to the flowers. A little bit nippy here in northern York County. I am not that excited about the cold weather. How is the weather around Dallas?

Sam's Radiation Finally Begins

On Monday, Nov 5, Sam will start the first of 40 rounds of radiation for prostate cancer at Hershey Med. He will be going 5 days a week an hour an appointment for the next 8 weeks. I will go with him for a few of the treatments. He should be able to continue working throughout the radiation. Predicted side effects are fatigue and digestion upset.
We are so glad to get this process started. I will keep you updated as he goes through the treatments. All prayers for a complete recovery are appreciated.

I'm in!!

Hi Everyone. This is so exciting. Thanks Josh and Wendy for seeing it through. Things here have been pretty exciting. I just got back from San Francisco. I had the opportunity to present at the Council on Social Work Education National conference. I was nervous but all went well. I was there with my WVU Division of Social Work supervisor, Jacki, for five days. We rented bikes and biked to the Pacific Ocean (thru Golden Gate Park) and then over the Golden Gate Bridge on another day. It was absolutely beautiful. Also had my first experience of going to a gay bar (my one professor is gay and wanted to take us there). It was lots of fun. Anyway, wanted to share my happy news. I am now also working as a clinical therapist for the first time. I work in a psychiatric hospital in Morgantown, WV. I am learning every day. My kids are doing wonderful...we just finished their soccer season. They both scored soccer goals this past weekend. Yeah. Jer is busy going to school full time, working, and helping with the WVU football team. He is very motivated and doing so well. Just busy! Hope all is well and would love to hear from you all.
Take care, Amy Zeiders
